PERFORMING ARTS - CAA EMERGING VOICES - 

Playwriting competition showcasing new plays written for teens and young adults by amateur and professional playwrights. A panel of professional playwrights and college professors judged the scripts and selected four finalists for play readings in the next few months. The winning play will be given a full length production as part of the CAA 2012-2013 CAA Teen Repertory Theatre season. The first two plays were read in April: Tabloid Love by Kenneth Nicholas of Oswego, NY and Esther the Queen by Stephanie Swirsky, NY, NY.

All readings will take place at Croton Academy of Arts

CABARET CLASS

Taught by George Croom, weekly three hour music workshop concentrating on vocal training, song study and movement - Grades 6-12

PERFORMING ARTS - ACTING

Elementary Creative Dramatics,  Grades K -5 
A program designed to introduce theatre to younger students. We teach through theatre games and unique workshops designed to inspire imagination and creativity. Students gain self-esteem and independence, while learning critical collaboration skills. Spring session culminates in a full length theatrical performance for the Grades 3-5 class.

Acting - Grades 6 - 12
Enthusiasm, confidence and individual creativity are celebrated while learning the foundations of acting; voice and speech, movement, scene study technique. Levels: Acting I, Acting II and Acting III (level III by teacher recommendation)

For students already participating in high school productions, this program will enhance and polish their performing skills. For beginners, it can be a major confidence-builder, as well as a fun, supportive introduction to the world of theater.

CAA Cabaret Class                  April 20 - June 8  (grades 6-12), Saturdays, 2:00-5:00 pm

Creative Dramatics (grades 3-5)
Mondays, 5:45-6:45 pm


Acting April 8 - June 15            (grades 6 -12)
Acting I, Monday, 4:00-5:30 pm, Acting II, Thursday, 5:45-6:15 pm
